Backpacking: Day 4 - Catania, Sicily

ITALY | Monday, 7 April 2014 | Views [1689] | Comments [1]

I’m currently in Catania, Sicily about to conclude my fourth day of backpacking. Palermo was great fun; I met a group of Americans and Dutch students at my hostel and we did a lot of sightseeing together. We did day trips to Cefalu and Argigento and went out at night in Palermo. They’re all studying in Rome, Florence and Milan so I will meet up with them again during my travels.

I haven’t been so lucky with the weather in Sicily as its been raining the last two days but its meant to clear up from tomorrow so I will be up at 6am to see the fish markets and will then get a ferry across to the Aeolian Islands for some sun, beach and coastal walks. I’ve just spent an entire winter in freezing cold Copenhagen being taunted by pictures of summer in Sydney, so time for some revenge ;)

Hope everyone is well. Lots of love xxx

Sicily is such a gem to travel. We did a road trip around the island and must say, it was one of the best adventures we've had. The Sicilian food, landscapes, and people are some of the best in the world! We rented a car so it wasn't super cheap... but definitely worth it!
