American Antiques - A story about place

USA | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

Since picking up my first camera, a Pentax k1000, at age 15 photography has been the vehicle for my dreams and ideas. My first few rolls of film were more about learning what f stop and shutter speed meant I knew that this was for me what a beaker was to Marie Curie. Since then I've been trying to hone my skills and find my place in the photography world, maybe make my name as well known as Curie's.
My approach to photography will always be one of development. Both personal and those around me. As the son of development consultants I have been strongly influenced by their strengths based community development. When I take photos I aim to create relationships and give something back to my subject. Whether that be a photograph or something farther reaching like awareness of the subjects issues in 1st world communities
I hope you find my images show my ability to tell a story and perhaps show an eye for iconic imagery. For me to win this competition will reaffirm my belief that I can be a social documenter. It will give me the chance to follow my dreams but most importantly it will give me a chance to make a difference, however large or small that maybe.
