My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Tuesday, October 12, 2010 | 5 photos

My name is Nathan Worden and I am applying for this scholarship because I want to take my photography craft to the next level in hopes of one day becoming a professional.

In 2008 I made a new years resolution to take a picture every single day of the year. When I succeeded I bought a better camera and did it again in 2009. I got so attached to my camera by taking pictures all the time that photography became a part of my life. So in 2010 I once again upgraded my equipment and started a "photo-of-the-day-blog" to share my photo of the day with the world. You can check it out here! http://nathanworden.wordpress.com/

Normally I take pictures of people, but I have also found that capturing what isn't your normal thing can teach you a lot about what you do consider to be your strength. That is why I think going on this voyage and photographing exotic locations would be so beneficial for me. I would learn a lot about all aspects of photography, improving myself overall, or maybe I'll even find a new style of photography. I am open to the possibilities and I look forward to adventure.

The photos I have submitted are of a morning photo expedition I went on with some friends to an old abandoned pool that was taken over by graffiti. Its a fun place for my friends to skate and a fun place for me to take pictures. I enjoy capturing reality as I see it and remembering moments, people and places. Photos serve as a tangible and physical memory bank for me. I remember the morning we went to the abandoned pool to be fun, daring, unique, surreal, and creative. I think traveling to amazing locations would create unforgettable memories. I can't imagine how awesome the pictures will look.
