About natalielucyphotography

My name is Natalie Lucy Adams, and I am 21 years old. I am a third year Visual Communications Photography and Moving Image student at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, UK, currently studying towards a specialism in Documentary and Photojournalism. I hope to graduate and get straight out there into the wonderful world of photography, particularly travel photography. People, communities and cultures fascinate and inspire me. I want my photographs to inspire others and show them just how amazing the world and the people in it are. My most recent project consisted of a trip to Ghana, Africa, where I volunteered for three and a half weeks. To say that the trip fuelled my passion and need to travel would be an understatement!

At 21, I am proud to say I already have a few achievements under my belt including two images professionally commissioned by '52 Weeks of Art' and displayed within Lichfield Town centre during their annual festival, and my proudest moment to date which came from a commission through Birmingham Central Library, in association with Magnum Photos, was to photograph the Colmore Business District in Birmingham. Outcomes of this project included a crit session with Magnum Photographer Chris Steele-Perkins, exhibition at Margaret Street Birmingham, private view and silent auction at Hotel Du Vin, and a book titled Perspectives: Photographs of Colmore Business District, Birmingham. This project also helped me to gain a bursary place on the Magnum Photos Professional Practice weekend in Birmingham in December 2011. I am currently about to start a second project in association with Birmingham Central Library which will be focusing on the new library building, and will result in an exhibition in June 2013.

I hope that this is just the start for me and my photography career. I have a lot of determination to go really far with my passion, and I hope that 2013 is not only the year I graduate from university with my degree, but also the year that helps me start my career in my passion of photography.
