My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Thailand | Friday, January 11, 2013 | 5 photos

If I was an inventor, I would invent an eye lens, that instantly snaps images when we blink. I feel like I am seeing possibilities constantly, and even though my memory processes these slices of life, I wish I lived continuously behind a camera.

I have always loved photography. I have always loved to travel. Even before Steve McCurry's haunting image of the green eyed Afghan girl, I had aspired to be a photographer. It was though, his haunting image that put NG photography on the top of my target list. And it's still a possibility.

Literally, the wind has blown me many ways. I now home school my two high school aged kids, as we sail and work around Sth East Asia. We built our boat in AU, we work on other boats, and I have an opportunity to encounter many cultures and to share them with others. An important aspect of my images is to share them, to welcome feedback, and to encourage others to have fun with photography. I also like to remind people, that it's not the camera that takes the picture, but the person behind the camera. Having the BEST gear does not ensure the best images.

My passion for photography shows in my images and my lifestyle. I can not wait to learn more!
