My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Syria | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
My interest in photography started in school - I was the one taking the photos at a party, or a concert, or constantly snapping away on my phone. I didn’t want to miss a minute. When I started travelling, my interest became a passion. Capturing the unreported beauty of the world became my ultimate hobby, and it became my goal to show my often unaware friends and family the incredible visions that world cultures give us. So far, my main subject has been the Middle East. Often misunderstood, it needs all the positive representation it can get. It was also a chance for me to understand my culture and roots, and to appreciate the beauty of these countries away from the politics and negativity that the media highlights. I love meeting and photographing real people who feel the reality of their incredible environments – I want to move away from the posed and the perfected. I would love the opportunity to photograph another stunning country and learn the most valuable lessons from the best in the business, giving me the best possible start in my photographic career. I want to transform my passion into a fully fledged purpose, and to show every individual the world they’re missing out on.
