My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
Argentina | Monday, November 7, 2011 | 5 photos
My name is Macarena Scotti, I´m turning nineteen years old this November and I´m from Argentina. I am studying at Universidad de Buenos Aires to become a veterinarian and I practice show jumping. I love taking pictures as much as I love animals and doing sport. Most importantly, photography has made it able for me to combine my three passions, all in one.
I have always dreamed about going to Africa, a country with so many different species, landscapes and cultures. When I was in school, I wrote a paper about African literature for the International Baccalaureate as I am completely mad about this amazing yet dangerous place.
Everytime I take a picture, I freeze a memory, be it a place I have been to or just something I see that seems pretty interesting. I think that just one shot is all it takes to summarize or reveal certain aspects of a place, an animal or whatever it is you are photographing.
I tend to take a lot of pictures of other show jumpers. Not only can I learn when I look at the photographs I have taken but I also get to practice as I have to pay a lot of attention to the light, the movement of both horse and rider and the precise time I have to shoot.
I strongly believe that with this scholarship I will be able to improve my photography skills and take them to another level. As a photographer, I am always searching for that special photograph that will be not only great but also an open window. Everyone will be able to look at it and feel something different, but to me it will portray the story of my greatest experience.
The photos I am portraying in this gallery are from my first trip to Brazil during February of this year. I went to a cruiser with my grand parents and found things I have never seen before in my life. I hope you like them!
