My Scholarship entry - What makes a city New York!?

Six years ago I left home to work in the UK. We traveled to many countries around Europe, where my hobby grew from an Ixus to a 30D & then onto a 5D. The more I learnt, the heavier my carry on luggage became, to the point where it was holding 70% lenses. The reason I moved to the 5D was for a full frame body to be able to capture those tight European streets.
Now returning to Australia, I have been considering a career change. People who see my photos comment & say that I should do it for a living. Recently I have looked at photography jobs, however am completely self-taught & have no formal training or experience to offer potential employers.
18 months ago I learnt that I was Dyslexic. Increasing my understanding of the condition I had grown up with, highlighted a gift I have of being Dyslexic was the ability to frame & asses a unique view point.
I always try to show the location I photograph in a manor which captures the true meaning & the unseen angle or views on what I am photographing.
The reason I chose New York, it’s a highly visited city & well
photographed, but my angles are attempting to show the non-tourist version whilst still capturing the pulse of the city.
