    My Travel Writing Scholarship 2011 entry - My Big Adventure

    My country, Indonesia is known as an archipelago. We are composed of various ethnic groups and cultures. Total islands in Indonesia is about more than 17,000. There are 5 major islands in Indonesia, they are Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, Sulawesi, and Papua. All islands in Indonesia have the uniqueness, beauty and diverse culture. As a traveler, I've explored many interesting places in Indonesia. For 3 weeks I traveled to explore almost all interesting and beautiful places in Indonesia, I went to 3 of 5 major islands in Indonesia. First, I went to one of the most beautiful and exotic island in Indonesia, Bali. Bali was an island that most visited by tourists. I was there for a week. I visited the tourist attractions there, such as Kuta beach and dreamland beach, that was a favorite of the tourists who were on honeymoon. I visited the temple of Tanah Lot, that was a place for Hindus who worship there. I eslso went to explore the village of Ubud, this village offered not only the tourist attractions of art but also cultural tourism. There, I could learn the customs of the society in Bali, I also studied the arts and the cultures there. After Bali, I visited one of the resort town in Java. The name was Malang. I was there for a week. The first place I visited was Jatim Park, an amusement park that offered a variety of games, such as spinning coaster, drop zone, haunted house, tornadoes, house water, etc.. The next day, I went to a place that name was The Palace of Dieng. Don't be fooled by its name, The Palace of Dieng was not a palace as we know, it was a sports arena. Many sporting facilities offered there, such as swimming pools, tennis courts, bowling area, pool, etc.. The next place I visited was Pulosari. This place was in the center of Malang City. That was a favorite hangout place of teenagers. I also went to visit the famous apple orchard there. Here I could pick apples directly from the tree. In this place there were also cottages and villas for the tourists who wanted to stay. Cause it was located on the plateau, so that we could see the whole city of Malang. My journey ended in Bandung. That was the most beautiful cities in Indonesia, it has the most tourism spots in Indonesia. I went to visit a place that called Maribaya, Park. It was a dutch heritage park. The park was overgrown with pine trees, in addition, there were also a very beautiful waterfall there. After that I visited a place which called De ranch, it was a playground for outbound, many faclities offered there, such as flying fox, bungee jumping, trampoline, etc.. Bandung, also known as the paris of Indonesia. Cause Bandung had the famous and the largest shopping places in Indonesia. Many people from other cities came there just to buy some things like clothes, bags, shoes, etc..
