My Scholarship entry - Life on the farm

I believe I have a good baseline knowledge of Photography, but acknowledge I have lots to learn. It would be a dream come true to learn from you. I’m sure there will be many younger applicants better than myself. However, I don’t think there will be anyone who is risking a well paid job, and the MD position to succeed. I’d also like to prove to anyone that is afraid of risking security, that it’s never too late to follow your dream. I’d like to use my photography skills to boil down the complex issues of this world using simple and powerful imagery. I want to convey compelling stories using the art of Photography. To me, this is success. I feel success is best encapsulated by the poetic words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Success is to laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
