With little available opportunities in my country, a lot of dreams people have never come into reality. Here, it’s like the survival of the fittest, each one for himself. Even the government don’t plan good polices to aid people with opportunities. The struggle for life goes on here.
Such is the case of these young girls who because of poverty, have paused their dreams and started working as head porters on the street with the hope of making enough money to support their dreams someday. The plight of these young girls is what inspired me to do this story. I also took the opportunity to find out more information on them and help change the wrong perception and attitudes some people have towards them through watching this video.
I am an Art student in the university.
I have not had any huge documentary experience apart from doing simple short ones and picture slides for family, friends and for academic purposes. I study and practice myself with short films and other editing work openings I get. I hope to mature and learn more about documentary making and I believe winning this scholarship will help me a lot as I get to be mentored by a professional documentary filmmaker. I know that the experiences I will gain in this short period will be a huge eye opener .
thank you.
