The most exciting thing about life is living life to the fullest and enjoying everything about it. Fuse an element of insatiable curiosity and the spirit of adventure then travelling becomes magical. We got introduced to the glitz, glamour and the fabulous life in Accra from all angles: from fashion, wine and dine spots, entertainment(cinemas, theme parks and more), books and stationery, décor, interior and furniture shops, electronics, Gifts and jewellery shops, health and beauty, internet, telecommunications stalls, travel agencies, pharmacy and finally the place every traveller needs Forex bureau. Appalled and excited as we were, we literally took over
the mall. Just as would think the quest is over, we were at it again. We dropped off what we had bought at the hotels. Cleaned up, relaxed for some time then we got something to eat at another local restaurant. This time I had some fufu, cassava, gizzards, fried plantain and
gari. For the drinks, I tasted palm wine, Pito(millet wine) 5% alcohol, Akpeteshie(Local gin) 40% and some Lamuji(ginger wine). Afterwards, we straightaway got a cab and went to the local clubs: Only to find out that it was a public holiday and clubs were closed at that time. This day was about checking out historic places in Accra. It was a day we got to spend some time at the National Accra Museum. Here we introduced to objects of archaeology. Then we got a closer look at the ethnography gallery which comprised of chief’s regalia, stools and pottery, indigenous Ghanaian instruments, beads, gold weights, traditional textiles and more. Samantha and I got ourselves a local mascot who took us through another journey into the real Accra. In the process, we took local combis and had a chance to see the state house where the former prime minister resides, The AU former headquarters, and other magnificent architectural settings.
To sum up, I had an awesome experience in Accra. I was akwaaba. Welcomed.
