A San shows the traditional way of starting a fire, rubbing 2 sticks together. This is harder than it looks, you must generate enough friction for the tinder to start smouldering. There had been a large storm before this was taken but he had no problems with the wet conditions.

What does the future hold for these San children? There traditional life style is changing; there culture slowly fading with the increasing pressure from the outside world. The small huts have been replaced by tin roofed sheds, the days of hunting replaced with changing out of western style clothing and performing for tourist. More and more of the young adults are moving to the larger cities for employment. Hopefully the knowledge and language is passed on to a few who can preserve it for future

A San shows his hunting style.
San people traditionally hunted in long, tiring excursions using poison arrows made from beetle larvae. The arrows are not big enough to kill on their own so the bushmen after shooting their pray would have to follow, depending on the size of the game this could take days, until it succumb to the poison.
