Batad - Life on edges
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on a steep slope?
My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Philippines | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos
I have been fascinated by photography since I was 16 years, starting with MSLR and moving to DSLR in 2006. Working full time I have only limited time for photography at the moment. I took most photos while travelling different parts of the world, aiming to conserve my impressions of people, culture and nature. When I travel I like to go off the beaten track, travel and connect with locals to learn about their lives, struggles and joys. I want to capture the true image of a scene, show it as it is without post-editing. My passion is nature photography, including landscapes, animals, people in their environments and close up nature shots. I really like to follow my passion, dedicate more time to photography and improve my skills and experiences.
The photos for my entry were taken in Batad (Philippines), a village in the cordillera of North Luzon. No cars, no bikes, no noise, no phones, no doctor; you have to hike through the mountains to get here. Life evolves around growing rice and people are dependent on the weather and their own two feet. In this peaceful place people are proud of their heritage; they are inventive, true engineers and like to share a good story with a stranger.
