There's no drought in Thailand

My five days in Thailand were meant to be a relaxing to start my trip off untill I got to China where the fun begins... But Thailand being Thailand things haven't quite worked out as planned. Firstly I booked a fairly nice hotel for 3 nights to ease myself back into this travelling lark as it has now been three years since I've been a backpacker and wasn't sure if I could cope with it staright away. So I booked a hotel that had a pool so I could spend a couple of days getting rid of all the old work stresses and getting back to being a traveller. When I checked into the hotel I discovered that the pool was under renovation for the entire time of my tirp..Great... The hotel was also no where near anywhere i wanted to go so I had to start the negotiating with taxi drivers... never a way to start a realxing few days. But the biggest mistake I made was arriving at the begining of Songkrat (the water festival) which meant everything was closed and just popping out to a shop was like running the gaunlet as Bangkok had just turned into one giant water fight... so once I had moved out of my hotel to more modest accomodation the rest of my few days in bangkok were speant trying to avoid the water and flour bombs and just pass the time before moving on to China...Not quite what I had planned...
