Early at the morning, we have arrived to Giza. We was still driving at the road when that large, tapered-heads suddenly raised from the hills like a Great giant kings seeking for strangers who are breaking into their lands. It was like that those stony huge castles was the tough guards who had been ordered to protect the graves of their ancient, precious kings from vandals and curious, so they are able to pass to the second life safely.
As we passed through the gates of the Pyramids, the greatness and beauty stored in those architectural miracles had reached its peak. Before entering the boss; Pyramid of Khufu, we wanted to have a look at the small graves scattered at its feet, just like a band of little kids sitting in the arms of their father; the Giza west field cemeteries. Each of the graves was as the size of a typical room, but with a reasonably lower roof, and absolutely different decor.
As soon as we faced the door we had an unfamiliar reception; two harsh guards wearing their full military dress and holding sharp, tall spears in their hands. However, they were so kind that they allowed as to pass without trouble.
Inside the cemetery, there was another adventure waiting for us. We had left the guards behind us and passed through the stony gate to a small room, lighted with intense white lambs. All four walls of the room was adorned with a variety of amazing, charming pictures, inscribed with an infinite accuracy. As we looked to them, we felt like we wasn't standing there in the 21st century, but rather we was standing in the heart of a crowd of ancient Egyptians five thousands years ago, living the story drown on those antique stones:
Under the intense sun rays shining at the early morning, we stood on the burning sands of the desert, waiting with all other residents of the Egyptian city in impatience for what was going to happen. After the long waiting, a priest showed up, climbing the stony platform and giving a sign for quiet. The priest was followed by a group of men pulling a large buffalo, it was violently resisting but at last they succeeded in controlling it.
When the buffalo was settled to the side of the priest, he started his speech, begging the sun god Ra for pardon, and asking Anubis for a merciful death. Then he talked about the pharaoh, the great king who are taking care of us, and about his ancestors, who we are indebted to them. And for that, he said, we will introduce this buffalo to them, so they will accomplish our wishes
