Costa Rican adventure

Life at the station

COSTA RICA | Monday, 5 December 2011 | Views [560] | Comments [1]

After our first few days of landscaping, weeding, and moving chairs at the research station in preparation for a scientific conference.....the wildlife work had begun....OSA is really a zoo without bars, we have conducted sea turtle work, helped with reforestation efforts of endemic species of Costa Rica’s old growth forests, and will be conducting amphibian surveys next week as well as hopefully primate surveys.  The list of wildlife that we have seen is quite impressive thus far.  Costa Rica’s most venomous snake the fer-de-lance, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and capuchins....all with babies.  Toucans, army ants, leaf cutter ants and the list goes on....we also found a pair of owls that we hung out with for a while...... we will be here for the next week and then continue our travels to a small Italian village in the mountains called San Vito....from there we will probably venture into Panama to save some money. Stay tuned for more adventure….
