"Some photographers take reality...and impose the domination of their own thought and spirit. Others come before reality more tenderly and a photograph to them is an instrument of love and revelation." Ansel Adams
For most of my life I have been drawn to photography. Over the 30 plus years since I picked up my first camera, with darkrooms and 120 and 35 mm film, I have seen photography go through a multitude of technical advancements.
What hasn’t changed is the journey one takes to produce a memorable photograph. I’ve found this to be true whether I am taking photographs for a newspaper, an image worthy of the label “art,” or a visual memory for a family to cherish. I often think about the wonder of being able to capture in an image a single frame of a lifetime.
My artistic approach to photography blends well with what is arguably some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. But the subjects for art photography can be found wherever you go. It takes a commitment to your art to create a photograph that captures unspoken emotions.
