My Scholarship entry - Traveling through the Czech Republic with WWII veterans
Czech Republic | Tuesday, January 8, 2013 | 5 photos
I have been passionate for photography for eight years and am working towards a degree in photography. I have been building my portfolio part-time, but my degree is important to me as I want to learn all aspects of the art before I make my business a priority. I have not yet cemented a plan as a photographer, but I know that traveling and documentary work is high in my interests. In my work, I focus highly on my artistic perspective and see things that most people glance over. Seeing beauty or an opportunity to capture an amazing moment in any setting, I constantly frame the world in my mind. I am truly happy when I photograph the world, and I produce images that have both beauty and soul. From this scholarship, I would receive the exact hands-on experience I need. Every day I learn something new and see the world with a new perspective. I am capable of capturing images that span most genres, but my main interest is portraiture. I am an advocate for real human beauty. One day I hope my work, which captures all types of people, will be looked upon with the same admiration that is unfortunately bestowed upon to the re-touched and artificial images that suffocate our self-esteem.
