My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
Worldwide | Wednesday, November 2, 2011 | 5 photos
Two years ago I didn’t even know what SLR means, but now photography has become my passion. I am a student from Design Institute, and I have been experimenting and practicing photography for past two years. Being a design student, I always look at photography as a medium to express, opine and through that try to be a tool for a positive change in the contemporary world.
As part of my course we are studying the way human vision works and currently I am reading different articles, books by authors like John Berger, Rudolph Arnheim, Adam Frank, and Margaret R. Lazzari and also other books on photography. Along with this I am working with a photography gallery called ‘Tasveer’ to understand gallery practices and photography. Studying works of various photographers and interactions with them enrich my love for photography.
I always loved travel photography, but this summer when I was working on a film based on shepherds in Kashmir, I got chance to understand their day today struggle and their hard work which got me very close to them . I tried my best to capture their life to spread awareness about them and let the world know about this community which might vanish soon, as most of them are settling down in the town and giving up their nomadic lifestyle.
I think Jason should choose me not only because I am interested in photography but also for my inclination in understanding different cultures and their issues and presenting them in front of the urban world.
Jason, if you think I have potential to become a good photographer and story tellers through my photographs hence please, please select me, I will work very hard.
