My Scholarship entry - Children of the Jungle

I am from Turkey but I have been living in the US for the past 12 years. I have a BFA degree in painting, MA in Visual Studies and a PhD in Art History. I am currently looking for a job that satisfies my passion for visual arts and my thirst for traveling. In 2012, I traveled to the nucleus of the Bosawas Biosphere in Nicaragua as a part of a documentary film crew. The project was called “The Sound of Bosawas" because we aimed to introduce the world the music of Mayagnas (one of the three indigenous groups in Bosawas), while we were showing that these people of the jungle use all possible means to resist the destruction of the South America’s second biggest biosphere. My experience was life-changing, which made me an environmental activist for life. Now, also in my professional life as an art historian, I concentrate on the merge of art and environmentalism. I am a good researcher, and now I need to be a better visual at story-teller. I have no previous photography training but I have a trained eye. I am an experienced traveler who is used to rough travelling in the jungle and I am fluent in Spanish. With my background and my experience with Jason Edwards I believe I will come back with a very good portfolio.
