[HIDING HALLOWEEN CRAB]
Looking for iguanas on a small wildlife refuge on Panama's Azuero Peninsula (Isla Iguana), I instead found a lone, yet mesmorising Halloween crab under a rock. It was as though it was waiting for something. I was surprised later that night when the island came alive with thousands of these crabs; the beach became a moving, clicking sea of purple and orange. I was camping on the beach that night and needless to say I did not get much sleep. It was like a B grade horror movie as crabs crawled underneath, over the top of and even inside my tent. I found out later that this is a phenomenon that only occurs twice a year with these crabs on this unique refuge. It was quite the memorable experience that I won't forget in a hurry!
