Every place, every landscape has a story to tell. I am Mihir Bedekar and as an architecture student, I have always been greatly inspired by the Built and the natural environment. I have developed a passion for describing these places in different mediums like prose and films. I aspire to be able to showcase beautiful landscapes and quality architecture to the viewers. This scholarship will provide a great opportunity for me to do so.
The film is inspired by the lifestyle of the Tribals in a village in western India called Dhaanpur. It is a tribal population in the middle of a paradigm shift from the age old traditions towards Modernity that is penetrating from all sides. Here are farmers and archers moving to the city in hope to earn a better livelihood. The women who are expert bamboo weavers trying to create products for the city. These women have also accepted modern practices and are running a sanitary napkin unit as a co-operative to provide hygienic means to the ladies nearby. Tribals are close to nature and understand complex natural phenomenas due to this vicinity and in response there is a sense of gratitude towards nature. This relationship forms the essence of the Film.
