My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited - The War Memorial Canberra

My first interest in photography began when I took photography as a hobby subject in school. I was fascinated by the pinhole shoebox camera we made in class, from there I was totally mesmerised on photography. For my school work experience, I worked with the Press Photographer at the local paper. When I left school, I worked as a photographic assistant at Studio Commercial in Sydney for two and a half years. After this I was employed as a Press Photographer at Macarthur Advertiser in Campbelltown for three years. My father owned a McDonald’s Store and I went and worked for him, photography was then my hobby. I have the knack of picturing the finished photograph when I first see the subject, and this helps me create a photograph that is exactly as I saw the subject. I have always yearned to be back in the photography profession as a more mature person. To win this competition would be a dream come true. To have the opportunity to work with professional photographer like Jason, who could teach me more about photography would be exicting. I would love to share my talent with the world and at the same time visit distant lands and meet some amazing people.
