My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Last year my early birthday present to myself was a coffee table book featuring a selection of Burton Holmes' travel photos. That book epitomises exactly what I love about photography – it gives us the ability to preserve memories, share experiences and make people aware of things outside of their frame of reference.
For as long as I remember, I had this need to feel that I make a difference. I had no idea how. And then I read that there are actually people out there that call themselves NGO photographers - with their skills they give people and causes a bigger voice by creating images that aid in increased awareness. People can not protect and improve that which they do not know of.
Most of the time, these project involves travelling to third-world countries in Asia, Africa and South America. Sounds perfect – it combines my passions for photography and dreams of travelling to non-tourist spots. And I can make a difference!
If I win this contest, I believe that both my skills and confidence will grow under the mentorship of Jason. And visiting Greenland would definitely be a great experience!
