My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I am from Argentina and I am 43 years old. Although I have been interested in photography for very long, I took it up as a serious hobby only two years ago, as my personal life allows me a bit more free time now.
I think photography can be a means of communication much more effective than words. It still amazes me how powerful a simple line can be, or a minimal gesture, or color spot in the correct place, can catch your eye and keep you looking, keep you searching for something which sometimes is not only in the picture, but inside you. That moment has the power of revealing something about what is shown, and about the way the photographer sees the world, but it becomes effective when it shows something about the one who watches.
Those are the kind of photos I hope one day will be able to take. This Travel scholarship is an invaluable opportunity to learn first-hand from the very best, from the ones who have kept the world searching and discovering the world and the individuals, the whole and the detail.
The photos presented here were taken in the north west region in Argentina, in the Andes also known as the Puna.
