My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Cambodia | Monday, July 1, 2013 | 5 photos
My love affair with photography has been going on for far too long, it's time to make it official.
I love photographing with integrity: not only the integrity of my subjects and surroundings but also my own as a photographer. Photography is about capturing a moment in time that faces extinction from memory.
Looking at an amazing photograph is an event: Mourning the lost and rejoicing in what is found. I aspire not to create the perfect moment, but to make it eternal. This opportunity is what I've always lived for. It started with an old 35mm and a kid's naive and shaky outlook through a viewfinder. I'm still that kid today, but with a steadier hand and a bigger lens. Even though photojournalism is a challenging industry, I will never lose my childlike determination to tell a story and this is where the seeds of my passion lie.
I am eager to learn more than what I have taught myself. To be mentored by someone with significant experience whilst traveling the world would be an 'event' without equal. I enjoy working hard, experiencing new cultures and broadening my own.
Photography is one of the most personal experiences meant to be shared and I would love to share mine.
