Good lucks for maths

Chose to spend $10 writing this over spending $10 getting two pair of damply washed knickers dry!

Now that I have hot water, decided to handwash everything, including pants and tops.  Only the Kathmandu fabrics have dried.  The cotton knickers not. That Kathmandu towel is terrific for wringing out the smalls, it sucks moisture from them.

Why at the hotel at 5.30pm?  To wish Kathie lucks for maths. Go girl! Good news on the website up too.  Cos I was too used to the mid afternoon naps in malaysia and was in a lecture fading dreadfully, took a taxi back and fell asleep 90 mins.  After a bath, am back to normal and no the arm isn't sore.  The incident brewed and was gone in maybe 30 seconds but it was scary at the time when I bellowed the second time and they kept pushing me.

The 20WOC is fabulous.  PNG won the best display with a spectaculour Wow! riot of colour etc.  I would have chosen the China display but its simplicity doesn't have the wow.  The gala preview last night - I hardly took it in - I just wandered about in a daze - albeit constantly nourished by a selection of yummy nibbles.  The sales area was very busy and for sure I hardly saw half of the whole show.

This morning once again my internal 5.30am bell went off.  The river is alongside so I went up this side to the next bridge and back.  How much life can change within two sightings of the setting full moon.  All this towering urban environment, quite alien really, yet maybe 30km as the crow flies people are living in shacks on poles above a tidal river.

Round behind the hotel is a little park, I thought, it was deserted at dawn but enter and be enthralled once more.  It was a Chinese single family tomb complex burrowed into the hillside, ( says the dutiful scholar of the museum at Melaka) replete with ferocious guard lions, lichened over.  Every said aged, the lush growth overtaking the human relics.  Still, a little shrine, with incense sticks, someone is looking after it.

After breakfast I met the British tour party, they seemed like a good bunch. AFter saying I hadn't sat on a toilet for a week, I thought, maybe I should get to know people better before coming out with that one - however it was ok.

And in our minivan and off to the WOC!
