Hi there. I'm Mel. I was born in Malaysia but I currently reside in Perth, Western Australia. I first picked up the camera when I was 9 years old. Dad gave me a really old camera knowing that I would most likely break it, but I managed well and finally got my own DSLR at 15.

As a kid I have some memories of being photographed by dad and uncles with film cameras because digital cameras didn't exist back then. Looking at the negatives after pictures were developed in the dark room felt like looking into history of my life.It's something that made me picked up the camera instead of dolls.

My dad and uncle were both photographers in their younger days but that did not last long. They got married, had kids and bills to pay. When I told them I wanted to be a photographer, they brushed me off because they knew about hardships photographers faced, saying I did not have the talent to succeed.

I believe that if I keep trying, I'll succeed one day. Every picture I take is a learning opportunity because no one second is the same. I would like you to pick me because I want to live the dream even if it is for 10 days or 10 years. I'll cherish it.
