My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Wow! Lucky me finding such an amazing opportunity while searching for an online photography blog. I’m Melissa Donnelly. The past four years I have been a student-athlete at Manhattan College. I chose to include this in my statement because my past experiences as a division one softball player says so much about my commitment and patience and my ability to focus on details. I received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. It is my passion to share my knowledge and life with others. As a teacher my biggest concept is that we are ALWAYS learning. This scholarship is an opportunity to take my passion in photography and get my foot in the door! Opening my eyes to the lifestyle and skills of being a travel photographer. Finishing school December 12 gives me the chance to pursue my dream of travel photography. My initial plan is to live and explore Costa Rica documenting their world through photograph. Capturing the people, wildlife, culture and beauty Latin America has to offer. My passion for photography began when I received my first Polaroid Camera. Not a day passes since that I don’t find opportunities to capture the world through pictures. It’s those unexpected moments in the day when you see it. An everyday experience that captures a timeless image. I’ve created a CD album and taken a digital photography course. My experience is limited in the professional world of photography but it is my dream to become an extraordinary photographer. I guarantee
choosing me for this opportunity to learn and travel with you will not be taken for granted. Everything happens for a reason and whether I get chosen or not I would appreciate advice on where to begin this calling I have for travel photography.
