Odyssey “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain

The Buriganga river has been transformed to a drain due to various human activities. Human-induced substances like detergents, disinfection by-products, polythene, cosmetic products, food processing waste, chemical waste and other debris contaminate the water. The pollution often causes toxic algal blooms, which reduces oxygen levels in the murky river, disrupting aquatic life and depleting almost all species of fish. The river is now considered to be biologically dead.
