My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
United Kingdom | Saturday, January 12, 2013 | 5 photos
Being known as the "shy boy" was the making for the love of photography I now embody. Growing up I was adventurous and mischievous, living alongside the Great Barrier Reef then moving into the outback of Queensland, I always had my one use camera at hand. Aged 18 I joined the Navy and travelled the world, with a camera in hand, admiring beauty in everywhere from the Pacific Ocean to the deserts of the UAE.
Photography has been a way to show family and friends of my adventures but with little words to explain where I had been. Whilst swimming in the Marinara Trench I lost my waterproof camera that had two months' worth of deployment pictures, which are now laid somewhere off the coast of Guam.
I have no formal training other then the Nikon users' manual and several dirty looks whilst trying to climb over things or stand in front of traffic to get that better angel!
To be chosen or even considered to work with National Geographic would be an achievement on its own. If people can enjoy and talk about my pictures I believe I have succeeded in making the beauty of this world that bit closer to everyone.
I appreciate your time and effort in considering me for this opportunity.
