My name is Mikala Allen, I'm currently a photography major at the University of North Texas. I’ve always been interested in photography since I was little, but it wasn’t until my senior year in high school that got my hands on my own Canon Rebel T3. I started going on adventures with friends and shooting everything I could everywhere I went. This obsession then developed into me setting up my own shoots, finding models, playing with lights and different ideas.
I would have to say my main non-human inspiration in photography would have to be light. I love the way light can make something look, how it changes everything in a shot. Going on adventures, whether with friends or just to practice by myself, always seems to give me the most experience, shots I like and the time to learn new things.
My goal with my photography is to go on tour with bands and photograph their tour lives. Traveling the world and taking in all I can is the only way I see myself, camera in hand. Winning this scholarship would be an amazing opportunity for me to travel with an awesome experienced photographer. As well as a great chance to learn and explore places I’ve never been before.
