Hi,
I leave
for South Africa tomorrow; and my family and friends have persuaded me to
create a blog! I'm not sure how often I will have the opportunity to update
this, and whether or not I will choose to anyway as it's the first blog I've
ever written, and ever plan to write [in all honesty].
This whole
thing has been a bit of a whirlwind experience already; and I haven’t even left
London! But I think I'm prepared for the 10 weeks now. I've gone through the
motions of preparing to leave: educating myself on S Africa, sorting out all
(or most) of the items I will need whilst in South Africa, and goodbye parties
with friends and family. However for some reason it all seems surreal that in 24
hours I will be boarding a plane bound for South Africa.
I’m
going to South Africa for 10 weeks with an organisation called Platform2 who I
heard about through my best friend [who travelled to Nepal with the same people last Summer]. She came back raving about Platform2 and the experience she had
had so I decided to apply and see if I got accepted – with no expectations
whatsoever; but 6 months later here I am about to leave for what I hope will be
a great experience.
Ok
that's all for now, I need to finish packing and I’m off to Wembley to see
England play tonight [can’t believe I will be in South Africa during the World
Cup but not even see a match]!
See all
of you in ten weeks,
Matt
