My Scholarship entry - seaweed farming on the island of nusa lembongan
Indonesia | Sunday, November 23, 2014 | 5 photos
I took these pics of local seaweed farmers on the island of Nusa Lembongan off Bali - many locals have embraced this environmentally friendly and sustainable livelihood since commercial fishing was banned in the surrounding waters to help protect the rich and fragile coral reefs and marine eco-system which has become mecca for divers from around the world and generated a booming diving tourism industry on the island. . As a surfer/traveller/environmentalist I try to capture the true beauty of our unique environment so that others can admire that beauty but also to help protect and preserve these ecologically important areas.Nature is the true artist and through photography we are fortunate enough to be able to capture this art, which is forever changing, and that’s the wonderful thing about it, in that each image is always unique because that view will never be the same as at that precise moment. I enjoy traveling to more remote locations and staying with locals so i can get better insight into their culture and beliefs. I've always wanted to go to Peru and viwit the amazon etc and what better way to do it than with a seasoned NG photographer Jason Edwards.
