My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

These photos were taken during my time in Switzerland in 2009, they speak to me about height. Coming from the flat country of Australia & seeing this as my first time out of Australia was breath-taking & inspiring. I saw the world in a whole new perspective & to me Switzerland was pure beauty & just a wonderland that I didn't know existed. I didn't have words to say when winding through these mountains that reached up to 4,000m high but I feel the photos speak those words for me now. This was what sparked something inside me that made me want to see the rest of the world, I knew that I was only scratching the surface of what can be seen & experienced on this planet & I got a hunger to see & experience more of it & of course document it through photography along the way. Memories might fade in the future but the photos that are taken will last a lot longer.

I believe I should get this scholarship because to me it's more than just the photos, it's about the journey & enjoying what's in front of you & realizing how blessed we are to live in such a colourful & variety filled world. I have a desire to visit South Africa & this provides me with that opportunity & I know that this scholarship will also get me out of my comfort zone & grow & stretch my character. I believe I have the photographic skills capable of producing a good result, i'm not at a professional level right now but photography is my passion & i'm all about diversity, I don't pick a subject & just take photos of that, I like to broaden my horizons & think outside the box when it comes to taking a photo that will make people think & feel something or that will inspire people.
