My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

People have always struggled to accept what they do not understand. Alien lands and faces, customs and ways of life too foreign to even consider. It is my belief that impartial, honest, images still hold the power to bridge gaps between culture and class that no other medium can.
Photography, in this truest form, is still very early in its development within me. After seriously picking up a camera through injury ten months ago I have felt a heavy connection to this brand of visual storytelling; my constant desire to learn and understand is this year leading me into photographic study. However the opportunity to work alongside someone with the experience and knowledge Jason holds would give an unparalleled insight into the skill set of a professional photographer. An insight into the editing and sequencing prowess that goes into a large body of work, and the situational and compositional awareness that captures the essence of a scene within the confines of a camera.
I hope one day to produce my own work at a level which can conjure emotion and critical discussion of relevant issues at home and abroad, images and text that aim to evoke understanding of that which is unfamiliar.
