Selling Streets in Vietnam

Working from the street doesn’t stop vendors from setting up elaborate stalls. Seafood sellers in the Ben Than market in Ho Chi Minh City keep water flowing over freshly caught crustaceans through a series of tubes and tubs while giving a glimpse of their quality prawns to a potential customer.

Life in the street seems so natural in Vietnam. People of all generations navigate the unsteady pavement to visit local vendors that are set up on the footpaths around town to gather fresh ingredients for traditional Vietnamese meals. An elderly customer in Hoi An greets one of his favourite sellers before haggling a good deal for his next meal.

Selling goods on the streets is always a team effort and more often than not a family affair. Everyday this family of fruit sellers gather their produce, transport it on their scooters to their favourite corner and set up shop for hopefully a successful days trading.
