G'day everyone!
We arrived in Sweden yesterday on the back of very little, but with big plans to make it through without nodding off. After smashing a pizza and a few beers, bed time couldn't have come faster and we both enjoyed a decent sleep until Dave was rudely woken by none other than Gaz with a phone call at 3.30 in the morning. Luckily for Matt, Jen left her calling until 7.35 but she still managed to wake him. Finally boys awoke to fresh snow falls and a brisk yet deceptively sunny day of minus 10 degrees.
The boys then made the journey with Frederik (Our host uncle) into Stockholm to check out the Vasa museum which holds the remains of the Vasa, a ship built by the Swedes in the 17th Century that sunk before it even left Stockholm's harbour. The ship was massive and was recovered 333 years after it sank. Funnily we found the remains of none than Dave himself who managed to play some part in the vessel's demise. We then took a drive around Stockholm, where the streets are lined with beautiful old buildings and the girls aren't bad either!
After our our drive around and a bit of lunch we trekked through the snow with Frederik and Linda to a hill that overlooks Stockholm. While there we manufactured our own pulka (a form snow transport), which were fashioned from garbage bags and newspapers which we collected from the bin. We rode the pulka down the hills and even passed some kook on a snowboard. We are still trying to figure who were the biggest puckos (Swedish for idiot).
Anyway we'd best be off, as we are about to go and show the Swedes how to ten pin bowl! Feel free to drop us a comment and always remember when making snow angels to watch your back because you never know when Dave is going to take the cheap otion and kick snow in your face!
Peace out,
Matt and Dave
