An afternoon on the Stockholm grand central station
The winter has still got its grip of Stockholm; people are still wearing their winter coats. They walk by with their suitcases. They are on the move to and from the arrivals and departures that flickers by on the big board. The building is full of murmur from chatting people. They are walking over the grand halls stripy stone floor. The time is rushing by at the big clock on the wall. People are in a hurry, a woman is walking by fast in her red pants to catch the time. Two men are exchanging a handshake, see you later. In another part of the hall two lovers shares an intense and quick kiss. From the small café´s stereo Otis Redding is heard. An employee from one of the restaurants is pushing a warming cupboard while he talks in his cell phone. In the opposite direction a girl walks by with a map of Sweden under her arm. Suddenly a young man with his girlfriend steps in to the small café. At the same time he states that he often travel by train now a days like some kind of globetrotter. When he got his cup of coffee he says that he is a content person. He hugs his girl before she leaves. The warming cupboard comes back, this time the restaurant worker is texting from his phone. He pushes the cupboard in front of the men who stand by the ring talking. The ring is an opening in the floor to the lower decks. An employee of the railway company is moving familiar through the building. Next to the ring a couple want to preserve the moment. The setting for the camera is discussed before the picture is taken, a little later they stroll ahead again.
The grey and blue commuter train is rolling in to the platform, together with the subway it is hauling white collar employees and service staff members from their suburbs to their work place and back. A stream of people is moving towards the platform. Also the express train x-2000 stands at the station which connects Stockholm with the rest of the country. The music of Otis is interrupted by the load speaker, calling out the timetable and the railroad junction Hallsberg is mentioned. Otis is continuing to whistle, while urban cowboy is studding the times for arrivals and departures. At the same time a man with his crutch is limping by heading for the cabs outside. Otis has by now finished his song.
