My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I spent all my adolescence quite isolated on the countryside 30 km south of Stockholm. This isolation made me constantly curious of what it was to be a human being in the rest of the world, and what the rest of the world looked like. This meant countless hours devouring photos in magazines and internet sites. At twenty I could finally set out on my first journey, I realised the world was bigger and more complex than I could ever have imagined. The further my curiousity brought me, a will to not just see but to be able to show what I saw, grew. So I started to film. As soon as I had collected enough money I travelled with a videocamera to collect stories and images of the world. This is still the technique I use for photography, I film, to capture the whole feeling and take out stills from the filmed material. I am interested in stories that shows the complexity of a place but that still have the potential to make a beautiful picture. The Greenland expedition would challenge me to take my photography one step futher and make it possible for me to understand the more professional side of it.
