Mathankumar P. IT Professional, Amateur Photographer, Sydney
To me, photography’s a gateway to another side of my otherwise dreary routines. As a spectator of photographs, I’m always interested in the story; as a travel journalist, I can accentuate that with my innate ability for storytelling with the right images to support it.
A good photo? Just clicks. With good timing, everything is in the shot, not the processing after.Digital tools – only to fine tune.
Why me? I want to discover for myself my perseverance in harsh environments and my adaptation to a professional outlook to natural photography – to step it up a notch.
The trip: As Calvin said, “It’s a magical world, Hobbes ol’ buddy. Let’s go exploring”. I’ve never had the time or money to do that. I’d face any form of adverse condition, wait hours at a stretch to get one glimpse of the Aurora Borealis. Then there’s the country itself: Suaasat, a trek through Nuuk, the Inuit culture, yaks, reindeers and whales. To a man stuck behind a desk, this experience would equate to a perpetual tour of Disneyland, on Prozac.
To you, Mr. Edwards: I’m a great fan. I’ve made a mental note to attend one of your workshops in the future.
