A must-see for any tourist is the stunning turquoise blue water of the Hokitika Gorge caused by a natural mix of glacial meltwater, rich minerals, greywacke and schist powder flowing from the ancient glaciers.

This enormous wheelbarrow which marks the southern entry into Hokitika and the pride of the town on New Zealand's West Coast is one of the world's biggest working wheelbarrows.

This Kea was visiting Arthur's Pass village at the foot of the pass. Kea is a curious but clever protected species easily identified in flight by an almost scarlet red colour under their wings.
