though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not. I'm on a river that winds on forever Cause what good is livin' a life you've been given If all you do is stand in one place

Southern Thailand

Oh, there's a river that winds on forever
I'm gonna see where it leads
Oh, there's a mountain that no man has mounted
I'm gonna stand on the peak

Out there's a land that time don't command
Wanna be the first to arrive
No time for ponderin' why I'm a-wanderin'
Nowhere the buses lay

Oh, there's an island where all things are silent
I'm gonna whistle a tune
Oh, there's a desert that size can't be measured
I'm gonna count all the dunes

Southern Thailand has been seafood pad thai, white sandy beaches, countless scooter rides and hostels full of travelers from all over the world. I have made my first Ukrainian, Russian, Phillipino, Israeli friends of my life. I have made new German, English and Brazilian friends. We have played never have I ever, poker and argued over whose native beer is better. I am surrounded by languages, skin colors, religions, traditions, accents and stories. So many that I do not even know what to share. I suppose I'll just share a few that come to my mind.

One beautiful night in Phuket, Thailand, I was sitting in my coworking hostel. We had decided to make a dinner in which everyone contributed a good from their home. I made grilled cheese and tomato soup. And used lots of butter. We had coconut and tofu soup from Japan, pancakes and vegetable salad from Russia, breaded chicken from Argentina, a potato casserole of somekind from France and a chocolate cake/pudding also from France. Afterwards, I was sitting on the sofa watching everyone. My quiet friend from Russia chopping a coconut. My French friend describing directions in her broken English, using more noises than words. My Philipino friend walking her child around the kitchen. My Ukranian friend talking to me. And the cat watching it all.
