A Place of Serenity and Discovery

The city of Baybay in the province of Leyte, Philippines is a growing city with majority of the land utilized for agriculture. Farm products are brought to the city center with different means of transportation such as the modified motorcycle called by the locals as ‘habal-habal’. The city center can be navigated by taking a ‘pot-pot’- pedicab named after the sound of its warning device. City residents are encouraged to keep dogs in confinement as a very important preventive measure against the dreaded disease, rabies. In the rural areas, aside from egg production, ducks help in the control of snails which are considered pest in the rice fields.
I love the outdoors, enjoy travelling, read fiction books and play my favorite sports. I love photography because I want to capture the beauty in every creature, place or thing by looking at them in different angles. Photography also enables me to capture precious moments that may only happen once in a lifetime. To be given the chance to work with a team that is renowned for effective photojournalism is a dream coming true and for me the best learning experience I will ever receive. I dream of exploring the world of photography in a serious side by taking each shot as an opportunity to learn and improve my potential as a photographer, thus enabling me to convey messages effectively through my photographs. As a veterinarian, I have also this desire to take photos of wild animals in their natural habitat so I can be part of raising public awareness of its existence and on providing education on how to help in the conservation of these animals.
