My Scholarship entry - Faces of Myanmar

Myanmar | Sunday, November 23, 2014 | 5 photos

I remember begging and bugging my dad for a DSLR when I was 18. Since I didn’t have any camera yet at that time, I would borrow from my cousin and tag along with him around the city to take photos. When I finally got my first DSLR, I was beyond ecstatic. It had been my companion throughout my university years until I got my first job.

Now, armed with a smaller camera and an SLR, I always try to get lost whenever I visit a new city in search of people and places I can take photographs of.

I would say travelling is the reason why I love photography. It allows me to connect to strangers who become my subjects, and challenges me to look for angles in places I eventually fall in love with. Whenever I travel alone, my cameras are my companions. They give me the sense of excitement and discovery. I've always lived a spontaneous life and photography allows me to live that kind of life because I'm always on the go with my cameras.

Having this opportunity to be mentored by Jason Edwards would allow me to know more about my capabilities in this field. As an aspiring photographer, winning this trip would be a dream come true.
