My Scholarship entry - Forgotten City of Petra

Admittedly, my passion for photography started off as a by-product of my travel itch. I love the emotional rush you get from exploring places, meeting people and immersing in unfamiliar cultures. Photography was a means to capture those moments and share them with others.
As an architect chained to my desk most of the time, browsing through beautiful photos provided me with daily inspiration. It’s fascinating how a single subject can be captured in several ways depending on the photographer’s vision. Motivated by all these, I started my own travel photography blog in June 2012 partly to get some feedback about my work but also just as a creative outlet. It became clear to me after only a few months that travel photography is my dearest passion and something I’d happily work hard for to fulfil.
I believe that the best photos are emotionally driven but that technical know-how and the thirst to never stop learning are equally important. This opportunity to work with NatGeo photographer Jason Edwards would not only be the best photography lesson I’d probably ever take but it would definitely give me that push to further pursue my dream to become a professional travel photographer.
