Worldwide | Sunday, September 18, 2011 | 5 photos

My name is Mariana Serna, I'm from Queretaro Mexico a great small city next to DF.
I've loved photography since I can remember, when I was a child I used to play with a developer equipment that an uncle used to own, later I got my first camera, a 110 mm; I got it in Arby's it was the gift in the happy meal, such a great present! Then my parents realized about how much I enjoy taking shots and gave me "My first Canon" a small black camera, I was like 9 years at the time... It's been 14 years since that moment, and my love for the camera still the same that at the time... I studied photography in a local school and I realized that the photography that I enjoy the most is the documental one, at the moment I'm studying sociology with the idea of giving my pics some theorical sustent. I love every single camera that I own (I have 7), I love developing my own photos, and of course I love traveling... But this set of images that
im sending is from my own town, I took them at the holy week, this photos also show my hood, I live in the downtown and every religious party happen here. This images exhibit a part of the mexican culture, the relation between God and the mexicans, they show how colorfull Mexico is.
The event shown in the pictures, is called "La procesión del silencio" is a walk that represents Jesu's death and the sadness that sorrounds the people because of this selfishness samples; the people get dress in different colors, it depends on the group the person is part of, they also carry a wood cross, to simulate when Jesus carried the human sins cross and is a way of paying penitence. Men and boys participate for show their faith, and the walk is made in silence. That's why it is call "procesión del silencio". This is it cause i'm running out of character.
