About mariammagsi
Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, I am a visual artist, writer, activist and social worker based in Toronto, Canada. I completed my undergrad from the University of Toronto in Studio Art & English Literature and since then I have done projects for a variety of world renowned organizations such as TEDxTalks, National Art Centre, Arts Marketing, Deleon White Gallery, Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts and more. My writing and photography can be found in BlogTo, Scene Magazine, Plaid Magazine, Herald Express Tribune, Dawn International and Geo News. I was awarded recognition for poetic artistry by the World Poetry Movement in 2012 and my piece on natural disasters in Pakistan was published in "Stars in our Hearts" on display at the Library of Congress. I enjoy travelling and volunteering in developing countries with children and families from low income backgrounds and am committed to combatting abuse, oppression and injustice through art, literature and creativity. I am currently pursuing a post-graduate diploma in Photography from George Brown College in Toronto, Canada. Thank you for taking the time to visit my world.
