'Samsø : The Danish Renewable Energy Island' is a photographic exploration of this scandinavian island. Winner of a challenge set in 1997 by the Danish government to find an island capable of becoming carbon neutral in ten years, today Samsø is a community success story.

Maria's work deliberates issues of sustainability relating to the environment. She tries to focus on positive steps being made in these fields; although raising awareness and promoting hope are both important aspects of her practice.

Maria is intending to travel far and wide over the next few years, and would love to work for charities on overseas commissions. Meanwhile she continues to work with both local and national environmental communities and projects in and around Yorkshire, England.
